Philly Nightlife Is Fishtown and South Philly
Fishtown north of Center City runs the city's indie-bar and live-music scene. Johnny Brenda's is the music venue with serious booking; Frankford Hall is the big beer-garden; Memphis Taproom runs the neighborhood beer bar. Kensington east has newer cocktail rooms (Martha, Pizza Brain / Little Baby's).
South Philly runs the corner-bar density — Ray's Happy Birthday Bar, Stogie Joe's, and a grid of classic South Philly rooms. Center City's Rittenhouse square and the 1920s-era speakeasies (Hop Sing Laundromat, Franklin Mortgage) carry the cocktail tradition.
Pennsylvania 2 AM last call. Septa runs late but thin; Uber is the practical move after midnight. Philly walks well between Center City and Fishtown; the crawl is real.
